If there isn’t currently a Run for Congo Women near you, bring the movement to your town! There are a few ways to do it:
We recommend starting out by forming a Team Congo, or running on your own, in an existing run/walk!
Find a local 5K, 10K, marathon or half-marathon that you’d like to participate in, register with that event, and then set up your own Run for Congo Women personal or team fundraising webpage* at: http://wfwicongo.kintera.org. You’ll get your own webpage that you can email to friends and family and their donations in support of your run/walk will go directly to Women for Women International to support our Congo program. Be sure to download our Talking Points and Fundraising Tips to get started!
Another great option is to gather your friends, put your shoes on and take a run/walk on your own time!
Set a mileage goal, chart a course in your area, pick your date, and set up a personal or team fundraising webpage* here: http://wfwicongo.kintera.org. When your friends and family donate on your webpage in support of your run/walk, their funds will go directly to Women for Women International to support our Congo program. Be sure to download our Talking Points and Fundraising Tips to get started!
If you’re confident that you’ve got a sizable group of runners and walkers in your area devoted to this cause, plan a Run for Congo Women event in your community (download Plan your Own Run for Congo Women Steps).
*Please note that your fundraising webpage raises money for the entirety of the Women for Women International Congo program. This is separate from our one-on-one sponsorship program. If you’re interested in sponsoring a sister in Congo, please click here to enroll.
* Women for Women International cannot provide insurance coverage for third-party events (any supporter-initiated event NOT listed on this site). By planning or attending a third-party event, you understand the risks of participating and agree to save and hold harmless Run for Congo Women, Lisa Shannon, Women for Women International, their volunteers, employees and anyone else connected with the aforementioned organizations from any claim or lawsuit that may be brought at any time by you, your family, estate, heirs or assigns, arising from your participation in such an event.
