Run for Congo Women is seeking an intern to assist Lisa Shannon, founder of Run for Congo Women, as well as coordinating the September, 2008 - Run for Congo Women in Portland, OR. This is an unpaid, six month position; 10-15 hours a week from May-August then full-time for the first three weeks of September.

Run for Congo Women was started in 2005 by Portland Oregon's Lisa Shannon in hopes of raising awareness about the situation facing women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She raised enough money to support 80 women by running 30 miles through the woods of Forest Park. Since then, she and other individuals have organized dozens of runs throughout the country, raising more than $250,000 and supporting hundreds of women in the DRC. Run for Congo Women has been featured in The Oprah Magazine, Fitness Magazine and Lisa has been honored as one of Runner's World 2006 Heroes of Running. We expect the continuous growth of the Run for Congo Women.
