We are pleased to report that the Run for Congo Women in Colorado has so far raised a total of $12,908: $6,825 from registrations, $4,100 from the event, and $1,983 from online donations! We also gained 10 new Congolese sister sponsors. Great job everyone!
Just because the run is over, though, does not mean people have to stop donating! The fundraising pages are still active. We encourage all of you to keep fundraising for Women for Women International. We are always in need of more donations!
We want to recognize those who finished the run first in Colorado:
10K:
- First Place Male: Luke Crespin with a time of 36:02
- First Place Female: Ineke Mustovic with a time of 44:32
5K:
- First Place Male: Matt Divito with a time of 21:36
- First Place Female: Erin Galvin with a time of 23:41
Congratulations to you four and congratulations to all of our runners in the 2009 Run for Congo Women! Job well done!
Thanks again to the 161 runners who came out for the Run for Congo Women in Colorado, to those who raised and gave funds to this initiative, and to allĀ the other people who made this event possible.

We invite you to come out and have the experience of knowing that you are literally saving lives with every step you take.
That isn't a maybe. It isn't hypothetical or wishful thinking. I have met these women. I have seen their children. I have heard their stories, laughed with them, experienced the hope and joy in their singing and dancing. Over and over and over they tell me, "We have enough to eat now. I had the money to be treated / to get my child(ren) treated for malaria. My child is alive because of you!"
It's unbelievably powerful to summon your courage and put yourself on the line to ask people to sponsor a woman for a year, knowing it is literally going to save that woman's life and the lives of her children.
